AAF Lexington welcomes, Jock McDonald, Monday, January 19th.
Jock is a portraitist. His fundamental skill is drawing people out and capturing their true personalities on film, with real human emotion: wit, humor, pathos, mystery.
He has more than twenty-five years of experience with “Big People” – Robin Williams, Dan Rather, Jessie Jackson, David Brower, Rosa Parks, Andy Goldsmith, Robert Mondavi. He also has more than twenty-five years of experience with “Little People” – babies and children, for the Gap, Target, Old Navy, Mattel, and more.
His portraits of people in humorous situations have won him assignments from Apple, IBM, Sony, Lucasfilm, American Airlines, Bank of America, Charles Schwab, Kodak, Liz Claiborne, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Kenneth Cole, Joe Boxer, Borders, and both French and German Vogue.
Jock opened his commercial photography film studio in San Francisco in 1986. He has won many awards over the years, but he is most pleased with winning a Clio, and for being included in American Photography’s “100 most memorable portraits”. He has been the subject of feature articles in Communication Arts (twice), Photo District News, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Santa Fe New Mexican, The San Francisco Examiner, and San Francisco: The Magazine.
